There are many cases where water is contaminated with oil. Each oil spill disaster requires quick corrective action, or it can pose a high risk of damage to the ecological system.
In order to skim the oil or other floating impurities from the water surface, powerful pumps are needed. Accuvon`s rotary lobe pumps are the perfect solution because they can convey high viscosities and work in slurp-mode.
With the wide spectrum of 16 pump sizes (flow rates of 1 – 4,000 m³/h), a large selection of equipment and additional parts, Accuvon is able to manufacture rotary lobe pumps which are perfectly suited to every single application.
Liquid as well as viscous or abrasive pumped media can be conveyed effortlessly, and even chemically aggressive substances pose no problem. The Accuvon rotary lobe pump which is insensitive to solids is capable of running dry for a short time and can be used for filling and emptying by reversing the direction of rotation.
Due to the low-maintenance design of the pump, the maintenance times and downtimes are minimized. All wear parts can be replaced at the installation site of the pump in a matter of minutes.
Typical applications - Skimmer pump on an oil recovery vessel
Since 2008, Accuvon rotary lobe pumps have been used as skimmer pumps on a oil recovery vessel. One rotary lobe pump is installed on the port side and one on the starboard side of the deck for the two skimmer arms. The pumps were configured and built individually for the application requirements. The pump casing was manufactured from stainless steel due to the aggressive salt water. The tri-lobe rotors with screw profile are equipped with made of FKM. The operator of the oil recovery vessel is very satisfied with the Accuvon rotary lobe pumps. The reliability of Accuvon pumps in particular has paid off in many applications in the last decades
